  1. KICD has provided Content Image in Integrated Content Engine (ICE) that has been developed on CBC digital content and ICTA field officers were trained on how to upload and the exercise is on-going across the Country. i. CBC interactive digital content in all learning areas (9X2=18) G1 – G2 ii. eBooks in all learning areas (9X3=27) for G1 – G3 including TGs, Teacher Handbooks iii. Over 120 readers for Kiswahili & English Language Activities iv. Current content image in Integrated Content Engine (ICE) upgrade is through app + content combined (Pre-packaged installer) v. Curation of Interactive Digital Content for Std. 5, 6 & 7 to be completed by Dec. 2019 vi. Curation of CBC grade 3 Interactive Digital Content to be completed by Dec. 2019 vii. Curation of CBC grade 4 Interactive Digital Content to be completed by March 2020. viii. Additional content to be completed by March 2020:

    • Radio Lessons Std. 4 to 8, and teacher training lessons.
    • 48 Course Interactive Digital Content in 12 subjects in Form 1, 2, 3 & 4 (Total 48 Subjects).
    • Open Educational Resources (OERs) Interactive Digital Content for G1 to G3.
    • OERs in Secondary Mathematics and Sciences


Total number of digital devices installed as of 19th September 2019 is 1,148,160 and a total of 21,232 schools have been installed with device which is 97.7%

Teacher Training

Over 218,253 teachers have been trained to deliver digital learning to pupils and the table below represents the breakdown.

Power Connections

Over 22,259 schools have been connected to the power. 19,023 schools connected to the power grid supply and 3,236 connected to the solar power supply.

E-Waste Policy

DLP has been designed to comply with the e-waste policy and NEMA guidelines. The programme also requires the contractors to provide appropriate environmental measures for disposal, refurbishment and recycling when the gadgets, accessories and parts reach the end of their life cycle.


A consortium between Moi University and JP Couto; and another between Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and Positivo BGH have been contracted for the full roll out of DLP, after both consortia proved their capabilities, in supply and installation of devices, in the pilot phase. Moi University/JP Couto consortium has carried out installation in 12,410 schools which is 90% complete. JKUAT/Positivo BGH has carried out installation in 7,256 schools which is 91.5% complete.
